Most clipboard managers, snippet tools, and notes apps default to an account and background sync, even for the kind of reusable text that's genuinely sensitive: passwords, internal templates, client details, license keys, half-written replies. Once that content leaves your computer, it's subject to someone else's retention policy, someone else's breach history, and someone else's decision to change pricing or shut the service down. Klackey is built the other way: local by default, with no cloud step to opt out of.

Klackey’s clipboard history, clippings, notes, folders, and Dynamic Snippets are all read from and written to that local folder, and nothing else. The two real exceptions are detailed below, deliberately, rather than left vague.

A consultant, therapist, or freelancer keeping canned responses and case notes that involve someone else's private information doesn't have to weigh that content against a cloud vendor's retention policy. It's in a local file, the same way a paper notebook would be.
Clipboard history, text expansion, and notes all keep working exactly the same on a flight, on a train, or anywhere else offline, because none of it was ever waiting on a server in the first place.
A support engineer whose employer doesn't allow customer data to pass through outside SaaS products can still use Klackey for canned replies and reference snippets, since nothing about the content of a clipping is designed to leave the computer it's typed on.
No. Install it and start using it. There's no account to create, no email to verify, and no sign-in screen standing between you and typing.
No. Clipboard history, clippings, notes, folders, and Dynamic Snippets are stored only in Klackey's local data folder on your computer. There's no sync service, and no Klackey server ever receives that content.
Yes, for everything that matters day to day: clipboard capture, quick paste, text expansion, notes, search, screenshots, and OCR all run entirely on your computer. A connection is only used for the two exceptions described below.
Two things, and only two: checking whether a newer version is available, and validating your trial or license when you activate or purchase one. Neither of those includes your clippings, notes, or clipboard content.
In Klackey's own local application data folder, in a database file on your disk. Automatic daily backups are written to the same computer. Nothing is uploaded anywhere as part of normal use.
