Keeping your clippings, notes, and history entirely on your own computer is the whole point of Klackey, no account, nothing uploaded. That also means a corrupted file, a failed drive, or an accidental bulk delete has nowhere else to recover from, unless Klackey is already keeping a copy somewhere safe.
Klackey checks automatically, without any action from you, and writes a new backup to your data folder whenever it’s been a day since the last one. The 7 most recent backups are kept; older ones are removed as new ones are written. Manual “Back up now” in Settings, Backups reuses the exact same process, for whenever you’d rather not wait for the daily check.
Settings, Backups has three actions: Back up now for an on-demand backup, Restore to replace everything currently in Klackey with a chosen backup file, and Open folder to browse your backups directly. Restore is deliberately different from Import, which adds a backup’s contents to what’s already there instead of overwriting it, useful when you’re moving content in rather than recovering from a problem.
Secure Folder content is normally encrypted using your operating system’s own protection, tied to this computer, which keeps it safe at rest but means a backup restored elsewhere can’t decrypt it. An optional backup password in Settings, Backups closes that gap: set it once, and future backups re-encrypt Secure Folder content with a portable key, recoverable on a replacement machine by entering the same password again.

Off by default, since history is a fast-changing log rather than a permanent archive. Turn on "Include clipboard history in backups" in Settings, Backups and it's covered in every backup too, not just the clippings you saved on purpose.
