Every generated password mixes lowercase letters, uppercase letters, digits, and symbols, with at least one of each guaranteed, not left to chance. Characters that are easy to mix up when read aloud or retyped by hand, like 0 and O, or 1, l, and I, are left out of the alphabet entirely, so a password stays just as strong but easier to get right if you’re ever copying it by eye instead of pasting it.

How long is a generated password, and can I change it?+
Klackey generates a 20-character password. There's currently no length setting to adjust.
What characters does it use?+
A mix of lowercase letters, uppercase letters, digits, and symbols, with at least one of each guaranteed. Visually ambiguous characters like 0, O, 1, l, and I are left out on purpose, so a password is easier to read back correctly if you ever need to retype it by hand.
What happens when I click "Use password"?+
It inserts the generated password at your cursor and copies it to your clipboard in the same click, then closes the popover. The generated value is also shown as plain text in the popover if you'd rather select and copy it yourself.
Where do I find the password generator?+
It's a button in the rich-text editor toolbar, the same editor you use for clippings and notes, so you can drop a fresh password into whatever you're writing without switching tools.
Is a generated password sent anywhere?+
No. Generation happens locally in Klackey using a cryptographically secure random number generator. Nothing is sent over the network.
