The more you save in Klackey, the more a scroll through folders stops working. You remember a phrase from the middle of a clipping, or that it lived in some folder related to a project, not its exact title. Global search is built for exactly that: find it by what you actually remember, from wherever you are.

Press the shortcut anywhere and a small search popup appears. A Clippings tab searches your saved clippings, matching on their actual content and tags, not just the name; a Clipboard tab searches your recent copies, the same history you’d otherwise dig through in the main window. Pick a result and it pastes directly into the field you were just using, though if paste-first is what you’re really after, Quick Paste covers that workflow in more depth.

The popup always opens fresh: empty search box, back on the Clippings tab, so it behaves the same way every time. A Frequent / Recent toggle controls how results are ranked before you’ve typed anything, and your choice is remembered; once you start typing, results always rank by relevance. The same folder-prefix search that works in the main window works here too, with a label confirming which folder matched. And if the clipping you land on is a Dynamic Snippet, the fill-in prompt pops up right where your cursor is, no extra step.

Clipboard history
The Clipboard tab searches the same history you'd otherwise dig through in the main window.

Secure Folder stays out

What's the default shortcut, and can I change it?+
Control+Alt+V on Windows, Command+Option+V on Mac. Click the hotkey field in Settings and press whatever combination you'd rather use instead.
What's the difference between the Clippings tab and the Clipboard tab?+
The Clippings tab searches your saved, organized clippings. The Clipboard tab searches your recent copies, the same clipboard history you'd browse in the main Klackey window, without opening it.
Does the popup remember my last search?+
No, deliberately. It always opens fresh, empty search box, back on the Clippings tab, so it behaves the same way every time you press the shortcut.
Do I have to remember the exact title or abbreviation to find something?+
No. Search matches on words inside the content itself, not just the title, so a phrase you remember from the body of a clipping is usually enough to find it.
Does global search reach every application?+
Yes. The shortcut and the popup it opens work system-wide on Windows, in whatever application currently has focus.
