A clipping’s HTML and plain text both live in Klackey’s local database on your own computer. Small images saved inside a clipping are stored inline as part of that HTML rather than uploaded anywhere, and nothing about a clipping’s content or formatting is sent to Klackey’s servers. Sensitive formatted text, like a credential with notes attached, can go in the encrypted Secure Folder instead.

Does copying and pasting keep the original formatting?+
Yes, when the app you're pasting into supports it. Klackey stores every clipping as both HTML and plain text, and pastes both at once, so an HTML-aware app (email, wikis, ticketing tools, CMS fields) renders the full formatting while a plain-text-only field gets clean text instead.
Can I save a clipping with bold text, links, and lists?+
Yes. Klackey's built-in editor supports bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, custom font color and size, headings, blockquotes, numbered and bulleted lists, tables, checklist items, hyperlinks, and inline images, and stores whatever you build as real HTML.
Why did the formatting disappear when I pasted a clipping?+
Some destination fields only ever accept plain text, no matter what's on the clipboard, and there's nothing Klackey (or any app) can do about that on the receiving end. See Troubleshooting in the manual for the specific cases this shows up in.
What happens when I paste into an app that doesn't support formatting?+
Klackey writes both the HTML and plain-text versions of a clipping to the clipboard at once, so an app that only reads plain text automatically gets clean text, nothing extra to choose or configure.
Does Klackey support tables and checklists in saved clippings?+
Yes. Both are built into the editor toolbar: real HTML tables with adjustable rows and columns, and checklist items with actual checkboxes rather than typed dashes.
