Snippet Library

Every snippet you reuse.
One organized library.

Klackey keeps every piece of text you save, replies, templates, links, instructions, in a single searchable library instead of scattered across sticky notes, random documents, and old chat threads. Organize it into folders and tags, pin what you reach for constantly, and find any of it in seconds.

Where does a snippet actually live?

Reusable text ends up
wherever you saved it last.

A good reply gets pasted into a scratch document so you can find it again. A useful link sits in a note titled “stuff.” A template lives in an old email you search for by sender every time. None of it is organized, because there was never one place built to hold it. By the time you need it, you’re not reusing anything, you’re searching your whole computer.

Folders, tags, and usage, together

Not a flat list.
An actual library.

Every snippet gets a folder, so it has one clear home, plus as many tags as you want for the ways it crosses folders. Pin the ones you use daily, or let Klackey sort by how often each snippet actually gets used.

Three ways it earns its place

What an organized library
actually changes day to day.

A support team’s shared phrasing

Folder the library by ticket category, refunds, shipping, account access, then tag the handful of replies that also need a #urgent flag. New replies get filed once and every teammate finds the same current wording instead of retyping their own version.

A recruiter’s outreach templates

Cold-outreach openers, follow-ups, and rejection notes each live in their own folder. Usage sorting quietly surfaces the two or three templates that actually get sent most, so the ones worth refining are obvious without checking a spreadsheet.

A freelancer’s client-facing library

One folder per client keeps proposals, invoices language, and project updates from blurring together, while a shared #contract tag pulls up every contract clause across clients at once when a term needs updating everywhere.

Beyond browsing and organizing

Your library also becomes
reusable everywhere else.

Abbreviation triggers

Give any snippet in your library a short abbreviation and it expands the moment you type it.

Global search

Reach your whole library from a keyboard shortcut, without opening Klackey first.

Clipboard history

Your snippet library and your recent copies live in the same app, not two separate tools.

Dynamic Snippets

Store fillable templates alongside static snippets, so the library covers both kinds of reuse.

Local backups

A rotating local backup runs automatically once a day, your whole library included.

Secure Folder stays separate

Passwords and other sensitive text live in their own encrypted space, out of the regular library entirely.

Stored where you can see it

Local storage.
No account required to use it.

Your snippet library lives in a local database on your own computer, not on a Klackey server. Folder structure, tags, pin state, and usage counts are all stored locally too, so nothing about how you’ve organized your library leaves your machine. A rotating local backup runs automatically once a day, and manual backup and restore are available any time from Settings.

Questions, answered

Good to know.

What's the difference between a snippet library and just saving files somewhere?+

A folder of text files only opens one at a time and isn't searchable across all of them at once. Klackey indexes every snippet's name, content, and tags together, so you can search your entire library in one place and reuse a result instantly instead of hunting through files.

Can I organize snippets by both folder and tag at the same time?+

Yes. Folders give each snippet one home, the way files sit in directories. Tags are separate and a snippet can carry several, so the same reply can live in a "Support" folder while also being tagged #billing and #urgent.

Is there a limit to how many snippets I can save?+

No. Your saved snippet library has no size cap, unlike Klackey's rolling clipboard history, which keeps your last 2,000 raw copies. Snippets you've deliberately saved stay until you delete them.

Do snippets automatically rise to the top once I use them a lot?+

Yes, if you want them to. Klackey can sort your library by usage count, so the templates and replies you reach for constantly surface first, or you can pin individual snippets to keep them at the top regardless.

Can I bring in a snippet library I already built somewhere else?+

Yes. Klackey can import a Firefox Clippings backup, a CSV export, or a folder of Markdown, plain text, RTF, or HTML files, and organize the results into your library with folders and tags intact where possible.
